About Director Identification Number (DIN):

Every Director has a DIN number if, DIN Holder not become associate with any company or limited Liability partnership (LLP) or Will not become associate in future than its more important to surrender his DIN. FAQ on Surrender of DIN

Can we opt Multiple Director Identification Number?

No. If having multiple DIN number than one number must be surrender. It may attract penalty for having multiple Director Identification number (DIN).  

If having Multiple DIN than How to surrender and which one to be surrender DIN?

By Filling Form DIR-5 for Surrender DIN to the ROC/DIN cell by pay appropriate fees along with supporting documents.

in respect of an individual who is in possession of Duplicate/Multiple DINs, he/she can retain the Oldest DIN only. DINs obtained later have to be surrendered.

What shall be penalty on individual if a person having two DIN?

If any individual or director of a company, contravenes any of the provisions of Companies Act, 2013, such individual or director of the company shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees and where the contravention is a continuing one, with a further fine which may extend to five hundred rupees for every day after the first during which the contravention continues.
